Bittersweet Endings

     Last week was the last week of my externship. It truly was such a great experience for me because I've learned so much and really gained a lot more clinical confidence than I had before. Even though we were pretty much glorified nursing assistants, just being able to do the 12 hour shifts and see what its like to be a nurse is really great insight into the field. Depending on your nurse that you are assigned, you go by the book or make your own rules haha. My nurse taught me so much and really let me be hands on. She was amazing and I am so glad I got her. She made everyday so fun and was a wealth of knowledge so I always learned something new. She always joked that she was burned out and wasn't at her prime to show me good nursing skills but if I could be half of what she is now then I would be satisfied! I can't express enough how much I loved this opportunity and definitely emcourage nursing students to try and do one. With this experience under my belt I think clinical will be a breeze now. Now I'll just have my pathophysiology class to worry about. But before I do that I need to catch up on sleep and enjoy what is left of my summer and then its off to hell lol. Just kidding well maybe only a little bit. Hey what can I say I'm a work in progress...
