Externship Update

     Where does the time go?? So I literally have 2 weeks left in my externship. I am so blessed to have gotten this opportunity. It is so helpful and is really making me believe in my capabilities as a future nurse. My nurse has taught me so much in the last few weeks and I am beyond grateful to her. I have become way more comfortable interacting with patients since I have started. My nurse has been helping me write nurse's notes which is something I needed clarity on. I got a chance to put in 2 IV's as well so far. Overall I couldn't be happier with how things are going. The hospital is also going electronic in the next year so hopefully if they were to hire me then things would definitely be a lot smoother. I would take a job there either way though because I have really grown to love it at the hospital. Even the staff there keep asking me I will come back and work there when I graduate and I keep telling them if the hospital offers it to me then I will surely take it. This really makes me excited for the real world! Anyway I realized that I had neglected my blog a little bit so I wanted to give an update on how things have been going. My advice is anyone who is in nursing school should try and get these externships, volunteer or paid, which ever just do it. I know some people who are doing both paid and volunteer externships. You can only benefit from the valuable experience you will receive.
