The Curve: A Student's Best Friend
I think every college student knows all to well the power of the curve. Curving a test is what makes a not so great grade into an academic success. It's like getting your run-down, beat up car upgraded to a ferrari or whatever luxury car of your choosing for that matter. Curves are able to give you that miracle grade that you thought was out of your reach. It also makes the teacher look better because it cuts down on the number of people who fail their tests. Either way it's a win-win situation for everyone. With that being said, a curve is only helpful if a great deal of people do not do well on the test otherwise there's really no point to it. It's not that helpful for people who bomb tests because either way they fail, the difference is that they just don't fail as horribly with a curve added. But regardless, it is a wonderful thing. Not only did our teacher post our grades up earlier than she planned to, which is a rare case, but she also made it possible for me to get 10 points higher than what I got with the way she graded the test. Those are the best moments when you find out that you scored higher than you really did. That's like going shopping and finding out that designer pair of shoes you're going to buy for 50% off is actually 75% off and you're able to use a coupon with the purchase. But seeing as though I just passed my exam before the curve, that just says that I really need to study more. Will I actually do it? Only time will tell but for now I'm going to slack off and not do anything school related until tomorrow. What can I say, I'm a work in progress...
