Stress Overload

So to say the least, this semester really took me by surprise in terms of how busy and stressful it's being. You would think that senior year would be a breeze but that's definitely not the case for me. For one thing my pathophysiology class has consumed my life. With that said, I have learned so much thus far and I am really glad I took it even though it is A LOT of work. I feel like this class is giving me that health professional and caregiver mind set. It's interesting because in the beginning of the semester, I was so lost in class and barely understood what the professor was talking about because she would say things like, "what is the underlying etiology in relation to..." or "explain to me the pathophysiologic compensatory mechanism that is taking place in such and such disorder." Hearing her speak like that was completely intimidating but now I actually know what she is asking  and even raise my hand to answer her sometimes (which if you knew me you would know that that is something I very RARELY do in any class). Reading and outlining the chapters helped me too because I would have an idea as to what she was talking about as opposed to coming to class unprepared like I might do for another class. Our class started out with maybe 60-70 people and we are now down to about 30 people and I am sure there will probably be less and less people once we take the second test, so that goes to show just how intense this class is. In last year's class, only 17 people made it to the end and took the final. I am hanging in there so far. We have our second exam this Tuesday which is on the cardiovascular and respiratory disorders. I am hoping that I can study really hard and get a miraculously good grade. In my main nursing class, we are currently in the med-surg II part and it has been fairly easy considering that I am in pathophysiology as well. The classes overlap in content so its good to hear the information being explained in different ways. We have an exam coming up in that class as well and I want to ace it because the class is an 8-credit class with no room for mistake otherwise your GPA will take a devastating blow. So pretty much I am in reading/study mode all the time which is why my blog has been so neglected. On a brighter note, I registered for my last semester of classes today. It's kind of surreal to know that I'm heading into my last semester of nursing school because it does kind of feel like I just started yesterday (no matter how cliche that sounds). But don't get me wrong, I cannot wait to get to graduation! I've been waiting for this for too long. Well I guess I should probably get back to studying. Clearly, I haven't changed my procrastinating ways much since I took the time to update my blog in the middle of studying ha ha but hey what can I say I'm a work in progress...
